All work by this artist
Nick Potter

In the early eighties Nick Potter moved to the beautiful village of Great Bowden in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside and his interest in landscape painting was fuelled by the beauty of his new homestead. It led to years of experimentation with different medias and subject matters, and during this period he discovered the vibrancy of acrylic inks, using them in a fashion like watercolour paints.

Nick began to show his work all over the country and within a short time he opened his own gallery, which had been a lifelong dream. The gallery showcased both his artwork and that of other craftspeople from all over the country. The experience gave him the encouragement he needed to explore and experiment further as a professional artist, and it led him on a path to produce a style of paintings that have become synonymous with his name.
Nick paints mainly in acrylics and acrylic inks, loving their versatility and quick- drying properties, but he also employs various mixed media techniques and textures, and is known for his variety of painting styles. Nick’s love of wild landscapes and seascapes fuels his desire to paint them, alongside his concerns regarding the pressures upon them in today’s environmentally unfriendly world.

Nick now lives yards from the sea in Embleton on the fantastic Northumberland coast, where he is inspired to paint every single day. He paints in his garden studio listening to Audio books, and often these are often unabridged and can last up to 17 hours. He is so attuned to this way of working that he cannot paint without them, and they are as much a part of the painting process as the paint or canvas.
