Tracey Elphick

Tracey studied fine art at Falmouth Art College and went on to become Head of Art at Kingshill School. Now she works as a full time professional artist. Her work is varied, portraying local street scenes, seascapes, harbour views and still life in both acrylic and oils.
In her Landscape work Tracey chooses subjects that are familiar to her and hold a great deal of visual excitement. She loves to experiment with use of collage, mixed media and spontaneous mark making processes. Spraying, splashing, sponging and graffito are some of the methods I use in order to capture a sense of movement and harmony.
Tracey’s mixed media Sill life is inspired by my ever growing collection of vintage ceramics and contemporary vessels together with flowers and foliage from her garden and the local countryside. Her intention is a quirky composition and a balance of pattern and colour. I sometimes add collage in the form of cuttings from old cookery books or seed packets and the whole piece is built up in layers of acrylic.
